“Judge My Apocalypse”

Because of my background in disaster science and emergency management, I found I’d educated myself out of some of my enjoyment of high-stakes disastrous, apocalyptic, and post-apocalyptic stories. This service is designed to help writers – and, really, to help me have more books to read that don’t make me want to reach for the disaster science bookshelf.

As an author, you would:

  • send me 5-10 pages of world-building and description of the apocalypse or disaster at hand
  • meet for approximately half an hour to talk about it, including general aims and other factors

After which, I would send you:

  • 1-3 pages of notes on items to consider and general factors that would be applicable to your scenario
  • 3+ academic journal articles about relevant topics to read (PDFs or Open Access as possible)

This package is a flat $150.

Editing

I do structural and content editing primarily: I look at a project for theme, plot holes, linguistic consistency, and characterization. Projects have included editing web content, copyediting and proofreading for both Island Writer and a now-defunct speculative fiction literary magazine, and academic content editing.
